Think Good Things Feature: Pencil and Spark

Hey there, all you cool cats and kittens! (Am I too late for that!? That was so-beginning-of-quarantine!)

I’m a photographer and I have two daughters. If you hate math like me, that equates to having LOTS of beautiful pictures of two beautiful little girls all over my house. Lucky me!
Last year, my walls got even more fun to look at.
A super talented portrait artist reached out to me and asked to trade a newborn session for a piece of art, of my choosing. I thought, “well, that would be a perfect addition to my walls! Adding art would really stand out against all my photography!” and so, a beautiful relationship was born.

Emily came by the studio with her braaand new, adorable squish! We had a great connection from the get go and I ended up LOVING his gallery. So did Emily (luckily)! Here’s a couple cute ones of Eli!

Emily is a fellow mama and small business owner here in Silverton. She’s got 5 beautiful kiddos and is single mommin’ like a BOSS while still running a business and doing a great job at maintaining friendships. She’s been drawing for 20 years, completely self taught and I promise you, her work is IMPRESSIVE. Not a skewed eyeball or weird tooth in sight like some portrait artists.

I ended up choosing this picture for Emily to draw, because it was my favorite at the time. My favorite picture of my girls changes SO often, but I am eternally grateful that this moment was documented in this way because it makes the picture even more special to me.

Tears came to my eyes when I got the final product. She had sent me sneaks through the whole process that I thought were already AMAZING, but when the whole thing was done, I had trouble believing it was even a real drawing! Think about your experiences drawing, did you ever think it could look so good!?

Since then, she’s drawn lots of other amazing commissions. I absolutely LOVE her ultrasound watercolor art. Her house art is an amazing gift for someone who just got their first home or maybe just had to leave a very meaningful home. Check the bottom of this post for a few and a link to her shop!

When Emily came over yesterday to drop off another GLORIOUS piece of her heart and soul that she created for my mama, we decided to team up! Okay first, here’s that amazing picture of my Mom’s dog!

and second! Look at what we’re doing! If you’ve ever dreamt of having the option to upgrade your regular maternity session to include a custom watercolor ultrasound painting, WE’RE YOUR GIRLS! I’m really hoping a client (or 30) will take advantage of this awesome offer - hopefully before your session - so I can photograph your maternity session WITH your ultrasound art! I can see so many cute images with it! And then you can take it home and frame it and enjoy it foreverrrr!

Let me know at booking and your art will be ready by the time of your session! Someone do this for me because I didn’t know about it when I was still having babies, ha!
